A Change of Direction for Realm-Crafting
Hello everyone,
After more than a year of publicly developing Realm-Crafting, I’ve decided to change the direction of the project a little.
First of all, the project is NOT cancelled.
The website and forum will remain online, and Realm-Crafting will continue to evolve.
However, over time I realized that developing a complete game editor while also trying to build and animate a community alone is extremely exhausting mentally, especially with very little feedback or interaction in return.
Despite many hours of work, updates, tools, systems, documentation and improvements, the community side of the project never really started.
Most people seem interested in following the development logs, but very few interact, register or share feedback.
Because of that, I’ve decided to refocus Realm-Crafting primarily around my own game project.
Instead of trying to develop a fully general-purpose editor for hypothetical future users, I will now focus on building the features I personally need to create a complete game experience with it.
I think this is ultimately a healthier and more motivating direction for me.
This means:
- the project continues,
- the engine/editor continues,
- but development updates will probably become less frequent and more focused on actual game creation and production needs.
That said, I still enjoy sharing what I create.
So I will continue posting screenshots, experiments, technical progress, systems, visuals and various development topics on the forum whenever I feel like showing something interesting.
The difference is that I no longer want to put pressure on myself with constant version releases or the feeling that I must maintain community activity alone.
In the long term, I still hope Realm-Crafting can become something bigger.
Perhaps once a real game exists, it will be easier for people to understand the vision behind the project.
And of course, if people genuinely start interacting, sharing thoughts, testing things or showing interest, I may reconsider some parts of this decision in the future.
For now, I simply want to continue creating without burning myself out.
As a final note, version 2.6 (currently in development, which I will release very soon) will likely be the last public release for a while. After this, I will shift my focus to building my own game using Realm-Crafting, and future updates will no longer follow a public release cycle for the time being.
Thank you to everyone who followed the project silently or openly over the past year.
This is not the end, but just a new page for me.
